Winner, winner, winner! Liebster Award

One of my new besties, a very lovely lady who writes Tonettejoycefoodfriendsfamily, nominated me for the prestigious Liebster Award. This is a wonderful and unexpected honor, albeit a teensy bit sad, because it’s meant to draw attention to deserving blogs (the happy part) who have less than 200 readers (the sad face part). However, I will carry on with a smile as the glass half full kinda gal I am, and proceed with the rules.

I need to nominate 11 other under-appreciated blogs with less than 200 followers. Hey guys, I appreciate you! Please visit them and give them some love because they are very interesting to read and are authored by brilliant and creative writers. Some have a bit more than 200 but I really enjoy them so much I wanted to help others make the discovery, and I think I actually have chosen 12, but whatever, I never like to follow rules.  And since most of the time I believe the world revolves around me (well, it does around MY house!) and it’s all about me, I can mess with the rules just a bit. Next comes 11 juicy tidbits about myself, then answer 11 questions sent to me, and create 11 questions for my chosen group.

Eleven random facts about ME you really want to know!

1. My grandfather was a rabbi

2. I was in the movie “Stuntman”

3. I fell down a manhole when I was three-years-0ld

4. I once interviewed Bob Hope

5. I know someone who knows someone who went to the Skyfall premiere

6. I love animals more than 90% of all the humans on Earth

7. I’m from the midwest

8. I could probably have a big win on Jeopardy-my head is full of useless information

9. I’ve taught school

10. My husband says I use a shovel like a man (he meant it as a compliment; I was not amused)

11. I haven’t eaten meat since I was 16-years-old

These are the questions that I had to answer:

Where is the farthest you have even been from where you were born? Not sure which is further from Detroit; Germany or Greece, but I’ve been to both

Do you live now where your family lived? My mom and dad and I moved from the mid west to San Diego, and my brother lives in on the west coast but not nearby; don’t keep in touch very much with the rest of the family

Do you like to live in the city or the country? I like where I live now, near the beach with a bit of hills, and the city about 30 minutes away. I want a little bit of everything!

Do you prefer to visit the city or the country? Definitely the country– to go hiking, camping, skiing. The city is only good for shopping

In what ways do you consider yourself the most creative?(Name as many ways as you’d like.)

I think I’m a pretty creative gluer of seashells and I try to put words together like I arrange my shells and rocks and beach glass

What do you see yourself doing in 5 years? I would like to build my copy editing/proofing business and maybe have the two books I’m currently working on done and published as well as the reality show I want to pitch to ANYONE and you’ll be seeing me on all the talk shows looking very fashionista

What would you like to try that you have not done before? Ski without being petrified of going too fast and falling.

Is there any place in particular that you have never seen that you would like to visit? France

What would you change about the world if you had one quick wish? No animal or child abuse

Rank these(1,2,3,4):books, music, sports, movies You did it for me, I would keep them arranged exactly the same!

What are your 3 favorite holidays? (Whatever you celebrate) My son’s birthday, Christmas, Hannukah, wedding anniversary (I chose 4)

Here are my questions for you:

1. How old were you when you first learned to read?

2. Name two of your favorite books.

3. What’s your favorite holiday dessert?

4. What is a Merchant Marine?

5. Who is your role model?

6. Who is your favorite movie star?

7. Do you make new year’s resolutions?

8. What’s cluttering up your life?

9. Do you drive a car or a truck?

10. Do you know how to change the battery in a smoke alarm?

11. What is your best home remedy for a sore throat?

      • We have an amazing blogger community that shares and encourages each other – that is the best award we could give each other! It is a joy to participate – glad that we connected…

  1. Awesome and very well-deserved! You are building your base of followers and you build up those blogs you have discovered. I think I will save answering these questions for my 3rd Blogiversary next week! Thanks for nominating me!

  2. Congratulation!
I had something similar to the shoveling incident. My uncle said I was unloading some boxes off a trailer like a dockhand. I wasn’t amused wither.

  3. Congratulations!! I love your answers; and how lucky you were that your grandfather was a rabbi! You must have had an amazing childhood!

    • you’re welcome! I like to support stayathome moms!! I love all the places you and your hubby take your daughter to give her enriching experiences. She’ll be a very creative person!

  4. Congrats, and thanks for the shout-out! Someone else actually nominated me for this one a while back, but I’ve had a hard time fulfilling the requirements because every time I think I have a worthy nominee to add to my list, I find they have a lot more followers than I do. This is kind of a challenging (and bittersweet) award to accept!

    • thats what i thought too, and then i got all upset cos i don’t have thousands of followers and likes and it gets frustrating for sure, oh well, i don’t have an answer, do you? I’m certainly hoping you have an answer! don’t feel obligated to do it if you don’t want to, no pressure here.

      • The answer is probably something along the lines of, “Just keep at it!” with additional mentions of patience or diligence or whatever. I suspect that some of those people who have hundreds of Likes per entry either have been at it for years, or carried over a built-in audience from some other previous blog or social platform. I can’t prove that, though. For now I’m just trying to make sure I enjoy what I do, and taking the rest one post at a time. Maybe someday our traffic will come. 🙂

  5. Well, you deserve to be recognized, but you do me too much honor! (I’m one of your besties??? I LOVE it! THANKS!)
Madam, you are the QUEEN of the Seashell Gluers!
    I am an animal,(esp.kitty lover, as well);I have in-laws in San Diego.(One’s a chocolatier)
My husband’s great-grandfather was adopted by a rabbi…is that somewhat close?
Oh and yes,I was a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom for many years; glad you support them all!
I’m glad you are having fun with this! I’m having fun with YOU!

    • Hmm, a chocy? who could it be? A mystery to be solved. wow, to be adopted by a rabbi, now THAT’s a story. I just knew you had to be an at home mom and homeschool, you are my hero! …you are one of my bloggybesties!

    • I don’t know him, but the reviews of his chocolate are really good! Hie’s in San Diego, I’m in Carlsbad, and don’t get to the city very often unless I’m driving to or from the airport! But that sounds like somewhere I’d stop for sure. I bet that’s what you get for Christmas! It’s tough to home school teens, you laid the foundation when it was most important, tho.

  6. I’m glad you heard about HIM; “Max” is my sister-in-law, known to us as “Margaret”. No , no presents,I got some when she was just back and wanted to start.Frankly,I prefer my own.(We won’t go into what I no longer have my bakery/restaurant.My story isn’t a lot of laughs).Besides, “Max” has 14 brothers and sisters, over 50 nieces and nephews.
One brother was a real estate lawyer there for many years. They moved out toward the desert somewhere,(he used to be in La Meas, now I’m not sure;I know he lives near a cousin who visits from La Quinta .There is a lot of extended family out near Palm Springs.I’m shaky on the map there.)

  7. Congratulations to you!!! A well-deserved award!! Wow ~ Liebster, Chanel…what’s next? Maid instead of dishwasher? 🙂 hee hee
And to be so sweet as to nominate me?? I am honored…thank you!!! I loved your questions and the ones you answered as well…I will get started on this soon! Thank you! xoxo

  8. Are we living in some parallel dimension? Because I just went looking for you to follow you, and then see your follow and comment on one of my posts—the blogosphere is awesome. I just did that Liebster thing but thank god there were no questions, as I would never have finished it! Congrats! Looking forward to checking out more stuff on your blog!

    • Keep writing, I will keep thanking my lucky stars I don’t have to hate 30 kids on a daily basis and want to kill their parent for conceiving such ill mannered stupid stinky savages. On the other hand, I did love to teach, I just HATED the kids. ha ha no really.
