I think we can all agree that it’s important to eat healthy and it’s equally imperative that we become better stewards of our world, especially our oceans.
My Yale prof son asked me to share this interesting and informative Scientific American video and article produced and written by his friend, Patrick Mustain.
Patrick Mustain is a Communications Manager at the Yale Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity. He is interested in how environmental factors (built, social, media, economic, etc.) affect health behaviors and outcomes, especially those places where media and public health intersect. You can find more of his work at his website, patrickmustain.com. Follow on Twitter@patrickmustain.
*As you watch the video, look for the wooden bowl used to make a salad. I gave it to my son a while back and it’s now starring in a film! It’s famous!

I knew about this! I’m so excited LOL. We do eat salmon, but we are trying to eat the smaller fry, if anything like sardines. This is a good article by David Suzuki on making sustainable seafood choices. http://www.davidsuzuki.org/publications/downloads/2011/Top-10-Sustainable-Seafood.pdf

Thank you for sharing that article! Although we are 99% vegan, sometimes we take sardines camping because its so easy to open the can. More importantly, wasn’t that a lovely salad bowl ha ha???

I find it perplexing that the fishing industries fight controls. What are they going to do when the fish are gone? I love seafood but it definitely needs to be done in a manner that allows the next generation to grow.

I think that’s what the message is, if there are no more fish, there are no more fish. It’s so simple but it has huge implications.

Instant gratification in terms of income but no long term goals. Being responsible makes the most sense in the long run.

We who have no water in California better really listen up! We need to not be so greedy and be better stewards of our world.

It’s so important. I never understood Las Vegas. You don’t have water? No kidding, you built in a desert.

Well, we have a little water but we decided to be greedy and take water from everywhere else instead of living with what we had.
