Life lessons from the garden.
We dug up a stand of cactus a few weeks ago, intending to immediately replant them in a different location, but life happened in the form of my son’s emergency surgery and my torn retina — and the cactus patiently waits for its journey to a new home.
Surviving and thriving.
Anticipating its release from a hostile environment.
Blossoming in spite of life in a barren, derelict wheelbarrow.
Hopeful.
It looks happy enough

It does, but made me feel guilty for leaving it unplanted for so long!

Wonderful story, great meaning. bloom where you are planted, no matter where, why, or how.

Thank you Lucy! I feel bad that I neglected them, but that yellow flower gave me the incentive to put them in the ground.

I’ve had cactus take root when accidentally dropped on a piece of dry dirt. They are shockingly hardy unless you over-water them.
Hope all is well with your son.

I’ve had that happen too! And thanks for asking, my son is doing remarkably well for having so many parts removed and he’s gained a lot of weight back. How are YOU doing???

cactus can also thrive in desert condition without water for quite long, it’s good for those who are lazy in taking care of plants!

That’s why cactus and succulents can grow here in Southern California when other plants die! We are in a drought and water is so expensive!

Love the last photo! Hope your cacti’s enduring survival ways help you to be like them during the trying times.
