We’re back from Wolf Mountain Sanctuary in the Mojave Desert.
I’ll post about our experience at the sanctuary, but it was mostly sad. Sad that these magnificent creatures NEED to be rescued. Sad that they can’t roam free, sad they’re hunted, tortured, hated. They are among the most intelligent and evolved species. How dare we destroy them. Sad. Very sad.
On the way home, we stopped at an amazing outcropping of rocks for a little hike and picnic lunch.
The Mojave Desert is also known as the High Desert because of its elevation. Blue sky and rocks. Ick. LOVE this pic. Rock climber Not me. #highdesert #mojave #desert #wolves #hiking
I love the Mojave desert.

There is so much negative mythology about wolves. That it isn’t true — never was true — doesn’t seem to matter. If we could empty the mythology cache, it would solve a lot of problems.

There’s much to love about the intelligence of the wolf, devotion to family, and the absolute beauty of the howl.

Every breed of dog is a descendant of the wolf, so dog lovers should love them as well! Thanks for sharing these awesome photos. I’ve never been to the desert.

I agree, we need to love all the animals on our planet and be kind to them. You would LOVE the desert; it can be magical!

Amazing that this sanctuary was so close to where I grew up and I didn’t even know it was there…
Question: Mohave? Not Mojave?
I’m going to have to pack up the little prince and queen and venture out to visit the wolves at some point, too. Thanks for sharing your pictures, and for reminding us about these beautiful creatures so we can help their cause as well.

Don’t tell anyone that I spelled MoJave wrong lol!!!! I must have been very tired. It’s in the Lucerne Valley and thank you for supporting the most amazing creatures (wolves). Yup, she’s been there since the 70s. It was pretty easy to get to, but then I was not the driver!

Very cool stop and great pics – except for that f’ing spider web. I will have nightmares about how large of a creature it took to build a web so extraordinary. Eewwwww!

It wasn’t a good pic cos it was actually a HUGE COCOON with dozens of caterpillars inside of it. Hub made me hurry and keep moving and wouldn’t let me take a better pic.

Me either! Although they weren’t slippery, so we did a bit of scrambling and it was fun, but that’s it for me.
