  1. OOOOH, that’s MY bird. You stole him from me 🙂 My Great Blue Heron (similar to, but oh so different, from My Blue Heaven). Is it really Earth Day again? It’s Patriot’s Day and the Marathon in Boston tomorrow, so there’s a lot of angst going around the Commonwealth. I remember the first Earth day. I would have hoped for more progress by now!

    • I think actual earth day is 22nd, but it’s being “celebrated” and by “celebrated” I mean commercialized –on this day. I was there for the 1st one too, in Balboa Park, and although I didn’t partake (of either one), it was a blur and a haze of pot and patchouli. We haven’t come far at all, which is the reality of it. And btw, that’s MY heron, taken across the street from our house at the school playground. I have another photo of him with our house in the background but I didn’t want to publicize our address, cos if you know the area, our house is easy to locate. This bird hung around for an hour, eating bugs I guess.

      • Mine was sunning himself by our downtown river and dam. These are BIG birds. I think because the Boston Marathon (and Patriot’s Day) is tomorrow, no one is talking about Earth Day, which will wait for Wednesday.

Earth Day has say slipped away here (maybe because of its proximity to the Marathon, which is such a big deal) to such a degree that people don’t even bother to commercialize it.
