Beware of scammers! They’re out and about this holiday season like mosquitos around a stagnant pond. I can’t even count how many robocalls and spam calls and texts I’ve received even though I’m on the Do Not Call list.
Apparently, there are several “pending lawsuits” for which I need to take immediate action (not at all true) and all my worldly possessions are in danger of being taken away from me (also not true).
There are SERIOUS legal matters that I must respond to or else the sheriff will hunt me down or something like that. (Not true.)
Here’s part of the transcript: “We have a legal pending action. Failure to contact us back will unfortunately be best no choice, but to take further actions.” Hmmm…not a great command of the English language…
The other weird spam/fraud/call/text was supposedly from Walmart regarding a special edition Playstation 5 Pulse 3-D headset for $919.45. The message directed me to call to cancel or accept the order. I blocked that number too, but that’s the only one that was flagged Spam Risk by my carrier.
BEWARE! Don’t respond at all to texts, voicemails, or emails like this. Have a safe and happy holiday season!
Yeah they are getting ridiculous, not just phone calls but emails, texts and even snail mail the last month or two has become ridiculous. I got the call from walmat too but was supposedly $8k double charge for a big screen tv. I dont even answer my phone anymore unless im expecting a phone call or i have that person in my contacts because ot seems if you do answer then you, then you get an increase of calls for the next week

It’s just ridiculous! They left a message on my son’s phone too, looking for me with a threatening message, but he knows better than to respond at all. He deletes immediately. People can google all kinds of things now.

It is so easy to get sucked in. Scammers get smarter every day able to spot weak spots in a persons’ psyche. I have been lucky but some friends, not so much. Chris

They seem to be relentless! I block one number and they use another one. SO ANNOYING! I feel badly for people who do respond at all, that’s a recipe for disaster.

the education isout there in the news but all it takes is hitting on the right nerve, as has happened to my friends who consider themselves quite knowledgeable

It’s easier than one might think to get scammed! I know someone who was a professor for 30 yrs that ended up almost broke because he believed the scam that he was helping the FBI and got 10,000 dollars worth of gift cards from Home Depot and gave them to strangers. Anyone can be gullible, so sad.
