They’re back! Nothing says springtime like a visit from these guys.
Scott’s Orioles are so deliciously bright and vibrant and they very rarely sit still long enough to get a good photo. I was in the right place at the right time for sure!
Look at this male beauty perched on my grapevine.

That’s and exceptional shot of an oriole! We only see them once in a blue moon when they are transiting from south of here to Canada. They don’t live here, but do migrate through. I’ve spotted a couple in the park, but never seen one that close or that clear. Congratulations.

Thank you! I’ve been determined to SIT and wait and was finally rewarded!

You know, with wild things, being in the right place at the right time IS the whole game. The difference is that the really great wildlife photographers, like the ones who work for National Geographic — know where to wait and when — AND have the right equipment. We are not all blessed with that equipment. Some of those guys have cameras so expensive my HOUSE wouldn’t buy that camera and lens.

Yeah, I know a NatGeo freelancer too, and he has enviable scopes; that’s how they see all the wolves in Yellowstone. At uni, I was minoring in predatory animals and had the opportunity to go to Isle Royale and study wolves in their natural habitat, BUT they wouldn’t let me bring my border collie so I said no. Oh well.
