“Enlightenment is when a wave realizes it is the ocean.”

It’s always a good idea to start out a new week with a positive message from Thich Nhat Hanh, even if I’m not 100% sure I know what it means.
I’ll have to cogitate on it because the nuance is a bit elusive right now, like I think I get it, but it’s just out of reach, which is annoying.

The breeze at dawn has secrets
to tell you.
Don’t go back
to sleep.

As long as you still experience the stars as something above you,
you lack the eye of knowledge.

The sky is filled with stars, invisible by day. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Between rainstorms, the sky around here has been especially lovely.

The rain stopped for a bit and I went for a walk before it got too dark. If I could paint, this is what it would look like.

This morning after an unexpectedly heavy shower, I was able to spot a rainbow before it completely disappeared.

Finally, the rains have begun. It’s a good time for a little self reflection along with some deep closet purging, sort of a sad but keep busy kind of day.

Focus on yourself, not on others.
Listen to your heart, not to the crowd.

As I clean/purge, I’m listening to Leon Russell (of course) and his song, Manhattan Island Serenade, is perfect for a rainy day. Fact: there was a real thunderstorm while he was recording and Leon included it. Why? Because he’s the Master of Space and Time, that’s why…

Meet Princess Aurora!

A couple days ago I was shopping with a girlfriend who was actually looking for Halloween decor for a party but as soon as I saw her tucked away on a shelf alongside sparkly lights and baubles, I knew she had to come home with me.
I had to name her, so she will forever be Princess Aurora. Isn’t she the most magical, adorable girl you’ve ever seen?
I guess this creation was meant to be a holiday decoration, but she’ll live on that chair all year long, or until a special little titian-haired Angel Girl claims her.
Princess Aurora’s magical wings light up, too. Beyond precious. Innocence personified.
Today’s mood…

In my mind I am always the feral woman wearing a white nightdress with a mud-stained hem and twigs in my hair, running through a forest bathed in moonlight, screeching along with the owls and foxes.
